I don't expect to win anything. Not expecting means not getting disappointed. I'd be grateful for any small triumph, like making the short list.
I'll be entering more contests and looking for mainstream venues for my short stories and maybe even for my poems. In a few days, I hope to submit a piece to Writers of the Future, a Sci-Fi and Fantasy competition that runs worldwide.
I'm working on a piece for the fall edition of The First Line Literary Journal. For the sixth assignment of the Writers' Workout at The Writers' Block, we've plotted out a character arc for a main character.
Mine was an arc with a very definable transitional moment. I plan to write a full short story as well, but that one perfect moment of realisation spun itself into a fifty-word microflash piece too. And that is another piece I plan to find a venue for.
I'm not giving up on writing. I love it too much. But I'm done writing for myself and for my friends. I want my stories to find their way into the world.
Join me?
*Hugs*
Jasmine
